New Necklace

I finished this late last night. It's made from blue tie silk and is backed with a beautiful black linen. I found close a yard in the remnant bin at Hancock's and decided to give my coutil a break. It has three organza flowers mounted on blue glitter vinyl and are centered with Swarovski crystals in White Opal. I strung the glass pearl beads and attached them to a vintage sterling chain, which I broke apart. The base also has three 'necklaces' with black contrast stitching and small White Opal Swarovski crystals. I'm using a new tie system in the back. I've been using a single double-faced satin ribbon looped the through both grommets, but have change it to two ribbons looped through each grommet.

Bon Weekend

We're starting to think about Halloween decorating ideas for a guest blog post. This vintage three legged/triple candleholder we bought on Etsy arrived today. I found it while doing research among Etsy sellers for said post. It was a fantastic deal, but I've learned that eBay and thrift stores are still the best value for old candleholders. I stopped by the dollar store and picked up some 'creepy cloth' and taper candles, all for about $3.25. The miniature pumpkin was a dollar and the moss was free.

Pier at the Edge of America

Michael and drove out to Folly [ aka The Edge of America ] tonight to look at the Harvest Moon. We took several shots of the moon and the pier. This is the first that I have uploaded and had to share it! This one was taken by Michael.

More to come!

Finished!

I posted a progress shot of this a while back. My goodness it's taken a while, but I'm finally finished! I haven't listed this on Etsy yet, as I need to take more photos.

I'm looking forward to making more pieces in this style and another I'm about to finish. Stay tuned!

eta - I guess I could add that I hand strung the beads and that's a vintage brooch in the center of the flower. It's adorned with dark teal metallic leaves with contrasting machine stitched detailing, and ties with two double-faced satin ribbons.

Autumn is upon us!

Ok, it's a teeny bit before the Equinox and it's been hot again these last several days, but the change in the air is very apparent and it makes us oh-so very happy!

Blogger|Facebook Image Fail

It looks like I'm not the only one not able to link posts to Facebook and receive the dreaded 'image not available' from Flickr. I was getting extremely frustrated, especially since I've made a Happy Heathen page on FB. I searched the Flickr Help Forums and found this thread. I'm hoping for a speedy resolution. And yes, I meant that pun!

More acorns!

It looks as though I'm not finished for the day. I found these via Pinterest and fell in love with them! I thought it would be selfish to keep these treasures all to myself.

Bon Weekend with the multi-tasker.

Yes, another photo of Malkie. But he makes me take pause, literally, when his paws are all over my work.

I thought I'd throw in a little detail shot that was previously featured on The Handmade Artist. Malkie usually lends a hand while I'm drawing patterns, either for costume projects as in the photo above, or when I draw my stitching guidelines for my products.

Plasma Kaleidoscope

Michael was playing with some photos of his coils and attempting to create some kaleidoscope like effects with the plasmas streams. He decided to download a plug-in for Photoshop and got some cool results. The first three were done by him goofing around and the last three are done via the plug-in.

Ultimate Bachelors Bathroom

Our dear friend Mike { or Liver, as most affectionately call him } played host to our incredible Labor Day weekend in Allentown. He lives downtown in a gorgeous white Brickote Victorian, built in 1874. He's lived there for many years and is slowly renovating the place. I think one of the showcase features of the home is the upstairs bathroom, a true mens palace. Mike had a urinal built in the middle of the room with the commode on the opposite side. Now, some of you may think 'EW' at the thought, but from a man's prospective { or at least every guy I've shown these photos to, not to mention the guys at the Fest™ } it's all 'hell yeah'. It's one of the cleanest spaces I've ever encountered. Then again, the whole house is kept pretty immaculate. There are some finishing details that need to be completed. That just means that Michael and I are just going to have to go back sometime soon to see if finished. :)

Bon Weekend

Things have been a tad hectic here this week and I've been slow to post. I was supposed to participate in the Holy City Artists and Fleas market tomorrow at the Eye Level Art Gallery, but I've been overwhelmed to the point I had to pull out.

We were supposed to get rain for most of the weekend but the forecast has changed. I'd love to wake up to a nice grey day. I find them to be very calming.

LOHAS Magazine Feature

Several weeks ago one of our photos on Flickr received a comment from Lily, who is an editor for LOHAS magazine in China, asking us if we were interested in being featured in an article highlighting green weddings. LOHAS is an acronym for Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability. After we received some more information from Lily, Michael, Stacey and I talked and decided to go for it! We were sent 18 questions to fill out and were requested to send about 50 images from our wedding, our day after shoot, and a few Michael and I took during during the preparations phase.

Stacey received scans of the feature, and they used a photo in another feature! Here are the images I ripped from Stacey's site…if you want to see larger versions, please visit her post. Just click on those images to enlarge.

We'll be receiving our copies sometime soon and I'll take photos of magazine then.

Thank you Lily!

Happy Labor Day!

Here are a few images from The Great Allentown Fair, which we attended Saturday late afternoon/early evening. We actually did things besides sitting around drinking copious amounts of absinthe all weekend!

Bon Weekend.

I know it's Thursday and all, but we're bypassing our anual treck to Dragon*Con and getting on a plane this afternoon to head up to Pennsylvania to see old friends. We're very excited as it's been a long time since we last saw them.

Be safe this weekend!
